Can't Connect

I am using SYGATE to share a cable modem connection. I have never had any problems with Napster, or MSN Messenger, or other "peer to peer" products.

But when i fire up Newtella (1.0b3) then i get nothing. if i go to the connect page and "RESET" connections, I will get a message that says "connecting..." and it will dissapear after a few seconds.

I have set my IP address to the correct external address provided to me by my ISP in the advanced configuration tab.

Any ideas ???

"It is confirmed that there were connectivity issues with the default host providers (gnutellahosts.com and router.limewire.com).
There were roughly 2 days of sporadic service."

It could be the above or maybe your client. I had connection trouble with Newtella too.

Before I used LimeWire, I used Newtella, and it wasn't very good. It took hours to connect, and it took 5 minutes to search. Plus, Nullsoft doesn't make Newtella anymore, so don't hope for upgrades.

On my router I put my machine/host inthe DMZ and have no problems with other gnutella host connecting and uploading files.

Or some routers/internet sharing devices can use NAT (network address translation) and map port 6346 to a host inside the LAN ie 192.168.123.135 or whatever private IP you set up.

Just play with the router configuration a lot and you will eventually figure it out.
