i just bought a life drive, and i have a wireless network adapter (D-Link) in my desktop pc, i configured a WLAN in ad-hoc mode between the 2, and it went fine, i did a hotsync and it went fine...
the only thing i cant do is to channel my dial-up internet connection to the palm, i made the connection "shared", and checked http in the list of things to be shared, and i entered the proxy srever and port in Blazer, but when i start the wifi connection, and open Blazer, it gives me a message :"Proxy error: could not connect to the specified proxy)

i was glued in front of the computer for at least 18 hours since i first charged the device, i did everything, and its really frustrating to fail this one...
thanx 4 ur help

note:which software(preferably freeware) can open .pdb files??? i thought palm acrobat should

D can't help much on your connection issue as I don't have an LD to play with but with regards to .pdb files and opening them. It's Palm's proprietary database. You should be able to view them either with a Text Editor that will open "any" files or a Hex File editor.

You won't see much as the structure is pretty simple and you can't reverse engineer it.

but doesnt the LD share the same OS with the T|X and some other T series devices, hence the same settings should apply to it, am I right?
tell me what should do if i have a T|X???

and regarding the .pdb , from what i was reading i understand i can read them with isilo, but i'll have to transfer them to the palm using Install Manager, right?

this thing really confuse me, having a LD will just alter the hardware spec., same OS, same software, same settings? right? if not, email me a bullet in the forehead :p

The LD shares a similar OS to the Tx (which I don't own) but each Palm device has a slightly different OS. Most current devices are OS 5.4.X with X being the factor.

I don't connect to the net via my T5 but do via the Treo which of course is different then connecting via a wifi since it's a phone.

i didnt know the X factor thing, thanx for clearing that up....
i'll figure it out eventually, i'm a a bit nerdy when it comes to computers...

i dont wanna sound like a brown nose or somethin'...but u are the main reason i like this forum, thanx for ur help...

Gregte is correct, my bad.

Adobe "pdf" files should be able to be read by Palm Adobe but you might need to download an update for the TX. The reference to the PDB (Palm Database) file threw me.....

I'm not much into freeware because of the old saying "you get what you pay for" so I don't know of any freeware capable of reading PDF's.

I use Documents to Go version 8.

There is a new program called Picsel Proveiwer - that was just released. It's strictly a viewer but it can view just about any document or photo format. I'm not certain that it's ready for the TX but I've played with it on my Treo.

This was the bundled program with the Sony devices and I have some familiarity with it.....good for viewing PDF, Word, Excel etc and it's $30.

There is also PalmPDF from Metaview but I don't know anything about it other remembering it was also out there.

in fact i meant .pdb (palm data base) files, the thing i didnt know that i had to "install" the files, not transfer them, and i managed to view them using isilo, although when i tried to open them from within the hard drive, there was a soft reset, wierd..

i found a tutorial somwhere on the web on how to channel the internet to the palm using BT few days ago, but i cant find it now, i will post the link if i do for common good...

i'm viewing the PDF files using Adobe Reader for Palm OS which was bundled with the device..

the problem is i cant pay for anything on the web, cuz i live in the middle east, and there's no finincial arrangement for purchasing stuff from the internet, i hope there will be soon..

thanx again for your time
