Hi, i am a full-time collee student that gets 100 % financial aid in student loans, federal grants, and state grants. I was just curious about homelessness. Of course there is no cure to eliminate it completely and of course not all homeless people could go to college because some may have criminal records and you cant get financial aid if you got arrested (even once!). so they couldnt get financial aid. but am wondering about homeless people in their upper twenties or upper 30s, who are still relatively healthy (maybe they just recently became homeless but never went to college).
in college you get financial aid that provides housing (dorms) and a meal plan for 9 months of the year. Why havent some of these homeless people applied for financial aid? that would help them get back on step, eat healthy for the next 9 months, and have a roof over their heads. you can still get financial aid even if your credit is bad. and most of these people have been away from their parents for a long time - so they are no longer DEPENDENT on their parents.
and financial aid at the beginning of each semeter gives money to help with buying new clothes, having spending money for beer or snacks, and money for traveling, such as a plane ticket for international students.
cant these homeless people apply for financial aid? i know most dont have an address or phone number, but they could just make one up or use a friend or relatives address and phone number temorarily until they find a place to live...
