I have a 1979 dodge volare slant six. My problem is adjusting the valves i try to gap the springs on the head. 28 for exaust, 12 for intake. I started on TDC and had a mark on my balancer every 60° so i could know i was making the right amount of turns per cyl. i do this, gap the 1st cyl, the 2nd cyl, the 3rd cyl, then i reach the fourth cyl. harmonic balancer is back on tdc. but the intake rod on no.4 is tight. i cant loosen it, i loosen the adjuster screw all the way til it comes off, STILL no movement. I'm sure all 12 rods are the same length, i gap them properly, i know i was on the right stroke because air came out of the spark plug hole when it was checked. but why is that 1 tight? and why now is the intake on cylinder 2 loose? i adjusted that before and it was fine but now its loose again, why? What am i doing wrong? I'm going to just complete the gapping and skip over the loose ones then come back again, is that theright thing to do?
ken k what u said explains nothing.. im a begginer mechanic try a litle better. where am i out of time? on the distributer? what do u mean 1 at a time? I DO 1 cylinder at a time! so what r u saying?
