canon eos 1000d problem.?

I have a Canon EOS 1000D and from few days I am experiencing a strange problem. When I try to click the picture., it doesnt allow, it doesnt click the picture. I press the click button, it focuses but it does not click the picture.
I am going mad. Any suggestions for it.
