Cannot install Sound Blaster X-Fi

Anyone else have this problem? When running the install wizard for drivers, I get an error saying that the install does not see any hardware in my PC that the software would be used for, and just exits. I have no sound. WTF vista

haha

i installed osx on my amd 64 and to get the sound to work i had to buy that thing

worked like charm stright out the box and no drivers needed

mmmm.... go to soundblaster.com and download the latest drivers.

the X-Fi is what we use on our systems @ Gateway, and I helped a client install drivers for his X-Fi after doing an upgrade to Vista.... everything went smooth, no issues on the install.

I know what you're talking about tho b/c I've ran into it before.... try running app in 'Compatibility' mode? Vista might not be letting the install software "look around" for system components.

you ran the wizard from the creative website? The drivers aren't included w/ vista...but the install from creative should work fine.

I'm using the latest Vista drivers off of Creative's website. I have the Xtreme Music edition of X-Fi. Apparently, there are a lot of people having this problem. Hasn't Vista been out for a month? and the beta has been around for WAY too long to excuse Creative for taking so long with some damn drivers.

I tried using WinRAR to extract the .exe but I couldn't find a working .inf file that Vista would accept as the drivers in the package.

again i say, i've got X-Fi cards to run on vista from the drivers supplied off creative's site. i dont see where you would be running into issues. i work tech support ( ) at Gateway and we use the X-Fi in our high-end systems, and there have been plenty of calls with your issue that I've been able to resolve by that driver install off creative's site.

what is the issue you are running into??? does the driver seem to install successfully, but regardless, no sound? error msg? after the install, what does device manager show for a sound device?
