Cancelling Survivors- the BBC must be mad

OK the second series was a bit far fetched in places, but a cliffhanger at the end of the series and the episodes in the slave labour camp more than made up for this. 4 million viewers is respectable, and the BBC must be mad to cancel this decent piece of sci fi and most fans I talk to say the same.

I always put my rubbish out for the bin men rather than keeping hold of it indefinitely. It seems the Beeb wisely chose to do the same here.

I must say that I agree, I enjoyed both series, although series 2 lost it's way a little, but I want to see what happens to them all, the plane, and the BBC drop it like a hot brick.

I do not understand the logic.

Ratings did dip for series 2, but it was still topping 4 million on final ratings, had it been under 4 million final ratings i would agree with you, but i feel it did just about well enough to merit the chance to tie things up with another series....

Doesn't have much luck, does she? Bonekickers was rightly roasted by the critics, she dropped Survivors, only to find out The Bill was being cancelled by ITV when she joined.

if they are to do a new Survivors it should be a "the next generation" show, where we look at life say 20 years after the virus, and humans have formed little self contained, but flurshing communitys.

Given the quality of series 2, that special would be utter $hite.
The came out with tut given an hour to play with every week, condensing it down would be very unlikely to help.

I think you're right. They got rid of half the characters in a sudden fire at the beginning of the series, lost one of the main actresses because she'd hoped for a starring role and wasn't getting it, & they replaced the actress playing the nurse to make her less posh, only she never seemed too convincing to me. So at least those 3 things but the wheels were falling off basically, that probably always happens with television.

And that's from fairly recent memory btw as it's on youtube :D.

I loved it, am gutted it has been scrapped. Now I will never know what happened.

Looks like No1 Ladies Detective Agency has been scrapped.

They did that with 55 Degrees North too, that was a great cop programme (with the evil murdering Lucas from Eastenders as the nice cop).

Then there's Big Love.....

Exactly. I liked the show and dont understand the criticism of the second series but the ratings werent high enough to justify another series sadly.
