Cancelling Service & Setting Up New Service Help

Could there be any potential problems with cancelling my existing service to set up new service for Cricket on their site?

This falls back on my other post about buying the Nokia 6265i new from Cricket directly and taking advantage of the current discount offerings.

I noticed on the online order form the question about whether or not the person ordering is an existing Cricket customer or not.

If I select "No" but enter in the same information on myself that is already on file with Cricket, will I run into a problem?

Thanks...

you will be able to activate a new account, but you should know that the rebate text specifically mentions this case and supposedly invalidates the rebate request. i haven't heard of that ever happening tho.

My wife and I were told by a cricket rep to do this exact thing 2 years ago for a hanRABet upgrade... We opened a new account in her name (it had previously been in mine), and then called to have our nurabers moved to the new account (which they said they could do, and still give us the rebate)... ultimately, they disqualified us from the rebate, even though we did exactly what we were told to do by a cricket agent.

I'd be very careful.. DOn't do it if you're counting on the rebate... If the rebate is just a nice bonus to something you'd be doing anyway, go for it.

Edit: If you don't mind getting a new nuraber... get a new line in someone elses name... (mom, dad, friend, brother, etc..) wait till you get the rebate, then change the billing info back to your name. Cricket doesn't care where the payment is coming from, so you can have it in your brother's name, but still have the payment come from your account with no problem. again, you'll be disqualified if you try to keep your existing nuraber, though.

Thanks for sharing your experience badutahboy.

I gave an opportunity to Cricket today to give me their discounted price for this phone. This would be to keep my existing nuraber and account.

Cricket quoted me $309.98 for the phone, Nokia case, Nokia car charger and nokia wired heaRABet.

When I compared that amount against the web price plus those accessories, it would be approximately a $57.00 increase to go direct through the store vs. the site.

Therefore, I may go to the store and get their deal. I've never spent that much on a phone so already, that's a BIG deal to me! But, I feel like this phone can do what I need and will last at least 3-5 years.

I'd highly recommend doing that... better to spend $57 more at the store and know what you're getting than to end up getting screwed out of a rebate and end up having the online price actually cost more, plus have to deal with a new phone nuraber.

In my mind, my nuraber has A LOT of value to it. I'd gladly spend a few extra bucks to keep the same nuraber.

Another piece of advice... DON'T BUY THE ACCESSORY SET. For the same price you can buy a car charger, better case, and Bluetooth heaRABet online.

Charger: (rapid charger. Cricket's accessory kit includes a trickle charger)

Hard plastic Case:

Leather Case

$8 shipped

That totals out to $15-25 shipped, depending on what case you pick... $25-35 will buy you a good selection of bluetooth adapters, such as the Motorola H700 ($30.00 shipped)(not a recommendation, just an example), which retails for $100...
