Can you watch the blood and gore in films?

Yes, it was pretty lame imo.

The girls eye looked like a crappy prosthetic. you didnt actually see the blowtorch on the eye either. (was on an american release dvd so unless it was cut)

Anyone seen Story of Ricky (aka Ricky-O)?

Thats got some great OTT gore!

it's really strange I use to be able to watch anything but as I've got older I've found myself more squemish although I have watch both Saws & Hostel and neither of them really upset me - more I suppose because I know they're effects - I have more problems with gross photo's etc of real life stuff

Love to see the gore but does depend on the film, something like Hostel would effect me more than say something like 'land of the dead' where I just laughed at the ways people were torn apart.

i get spooked easier now than i did when i was younger but i think im de-sensitized to the blood and gore because ive seen so much of it over the years.

Gore doesn't usually bother me. I know it is tomato sauce and pink latex. Also, I have A-level biology and have dissected my share of rats. I'm not generally squeamish. There are certain things which push my buttons, though - mostly oral-related. For example, the boy being force-fed buttons in The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover. Relatively mild, but as I say, it pushed my buttons.

Nothing in Hostel did, not Silent Hill which I just saw last night. Nor either Saw film. I wouldn't say I enjoy it, but I don't like censorship and it can seem strange if people are in jepardy but no-one gets hurt; or if people are getting hurt but there's no blood. It starts to seem false and stagey.

I do like some of the visuals which are sometimes associated with gore. For example, the cenobites in the Hellraiser films have a kind of fascination. As did the mechanical contraptions in the Saw films - eg the jaw-breaker. I thought the monsters in Silent Hill were well concieved. Visually interesting and unlike what you see every day. Imaginative. I admire artists who can render nightmares.

And it wouldn't be right to have a nasty character like some of the ones in Silent Hill without showing the actual gore they inflict. (Trying not to be too specific here for those of you who haven't seen it.)

i remeber watching terminator 2 and when he cuts open his arm, i ran behind the sofa! I can easily watch it now, apart from when needles are concerned lol. i cringe but it dont bother me. i just get reminded of tomato sauce
