This is from a protocol manual for the detection of proteins on western blots:

Dilute appropriate conjugate 1/1,000 in freshly prepared 1X Detector Block using a minimum of 0.18 mL/cm^2 of membrane.

What in the world do they mean by conjugate?
 
hello hello, so why the western blot? Are you testing for Lyme disease? Please privately e-mail me, i can get you the info probably really fast and if not i can refer you out to ALOT of dr.s all over america, germany and india. They can read your wes blot for u. why didnt your dr? Who gave you the test?
 
Sounds like your're doing some freaky microbio lab s***. So when they say conjugate, they either mean the DNA that was meant to be transfered to annother cell by conjugation which you or the lab tech has intercepted, or they mean the bacterial cell which has or was meant to recieve the DNA through the process of conjugation... I'm not totally sure which, but it's one of the two.

Hopefully you know by now what conjugation is... it's the bacterial equivalent to sex where contact between cells initiates plasmid denaturation and transfer via the conjugation bridge.
