Can you tell me why the Lexus IS-F engine bay is so complex?

I saw a picture on a web page and it seems overly complex, with lots of hoses, almost like spaghetti. I know the motor is non aspirated, so turbos or superchargers are not the answer. it looks like a nightmare to work on.

naturally aspirated I meant.

years ago there were only a few parts...carburetor,,,distributor,,,maybe a power steering pump/alternator...until 15 yrs ago fewer had AC than today....today's engine is1 in a smaller car
2under strict pollution controls
3 fuel injected
4 like you say full of hoses/wires/ sensors/computers/ switches.
5 the people who design the engine often don't know what car is going into..that why you can find the spark plugs
6 dealer doesn't want you to DIY...many charge retail for parts [making money] and charge 75 to 125 an hour [making big money]

I couldn't agree with you more, but I assume you meant naturally aspirated, not non. Anyways, you are right about it looking crazy under the hood there. But it is manageable.
