When I was a kid, we went to Washington D.C. and we were able to walk up and touch the monument and take pictures and we didn't have to wait in any lines or buy or reserve tickets. We didn't go to the top of the monument. When we went back after 9/11, they built a wall around it, and you couldn't get really close to it anymore. But when I went back AGAIN about two years ago, there was no wall. So can you go straight up to the monument now and see it?
