Can you spray paint plastic silver car rims with an outdoor spray paint?

I was thinking about spray painting an old pair of car rims that are plastic and currently silver to a hot pink color and sprinkling pink glitter on them when their not quite dry. and letting it dry for about 2-3 days in a cool temp. would the paint last and if so how long?
 
Sure you can do it, I'm not quite sure how long it will last though. They make spray paint specifically for automotive apllications, it is put out by Dupont, check it out.
