well my teacher gave the class i riddle to solve by tomarrow. and till now i gave up and wanted to know really bad so if you can give the answer and why.

(the image)
1. make nine squares forming a circle
2. place a ? on the top first one
3. going clockwise from the ? place a 2 then 4 then 1 then 5 then 7 then 4 then 8 then 10 then back to the ?
4. place one number for each square
so you would have a sequence of ?, 2, 4, 1, 5, 7, 4, 8, 10.going clockwise

(solving)
what does ? equal to and why?

well i didn't actually draw the circle with squares but if u think about it, its a circle so it goes on forever. so the answer should be infinity.

i obtained the same 2 answers as johnny 7 or 13... however i do think it is actually 7, not 13..the reason being is that
4 -2= 2 this one equation is in the backward direction if u look at the sequence 2.4.1.......
4-1= 3 this one is forward
5-1= 4 this one is backward
7-5= 2 this one is backward
7-4= 3 this one is forward
8-4=4 this one is backward
10-8= 2 this one is backward
10-?= 3 this one is therefore forward
so it should be 10- ?=3, not ?-10=3
i'm not sure if u really get it but it made sense to me and i hope it did to u as well
hope it helped :)

I have one solution, sort of.. I've gone over this for half an hour, and there's still something missing though.

The ? is either 7 or 13.

Because,

2 to 4 is 2.
4 to 1 is 3.
1 to 5 is 4.
5 to 7 is 2.
7 to 4 is 3.
4 to 8 is 4.
8 to 10 is 2.

See a pattern?

that's why I think the ? is either 7 or 13, because it takes 3 for 10 to get to either way.
but then, there's that number between 7/13 and 2, that would make 4. That's what's missing.

I'm sorry. I hope I helped.
