Can you sand down a glass pedestal cake plate?

I have an antique glass pedestal cake plate and it has a couple of chips in the top of it. Can they be sanded down or smoothed out?

yes very fine wet n dry sand paper providing its not toughened or laminated glass.
it takes a lot of time n effort & may be the case that as an antuke you would detract the value by modifying it

Yes, use a nail file buffer block or very fine sand paper. If you wanted to you could apply a light coat of a clear nail polish to bring back the "gloss" look.
