I'm in college and in our dorms we have plugs for the air conditioners which are left on all year (it's hot in my locale). Someone on my floor said they just made an adapter from the air conditioner plug in which they can plug in their European stuff without the use of adapters. He said that as long as the stuff will accept 240V 60HZ it will be okay.
I'm aware that the electrical system in the USA runs differently and that there are two opposing 120V circuits which "make" a 240V connection between them which "real" systems have a 240V hot and a neutral. Does this matter?
