can you replace a 1 piece crank into a 3 piece crank on a bmx bike?

It depends what type of bottom bracket you have. But it you have like a mongoose or something i think you can but it will be expensive
 
Yes you can. You have to get a new bottom bracket, probably an american sized, and pull off your old cranks and bottom bracket. Then you need to get new cranks that fit on the spindle that came with your bracket, (48 splines to 48 spline cranks, 8 to 8, etc) the removal and installation of the new bracket can be tricky, but its not overly hard.

no the frame setup is different
even if you figure out a way to it's not worth it the frame will be weaker than that of a bike that comes with a 3 piece crank
but a good reasonably priced bike with a 3 piece crank is the DK 8pack
