Can you remove the rubber bumper the front fender of an Ultra?

I was wondering if the big chrome rail with rubber bumper, just below the edge of the front fender of an Ultra be easily removed?

It looks like it's just bolted on to the front forks and could easily be removed, just leaving a small strip of chrome on the bottom edge of the fender and the reflective part at the front of the fender(just like the front fender of a Road King).

Is this correct? I just don't like the looks of that big honkin' stock front fender.

I was just thinking that if this is possible, the Ultra could be an option for me instead of a Street Glide, since that front fender could be stripped down a little bit, then I could get a quick-detach kit for the trunk and end up with something that's a bit more versatile and sporty looking when needed.

Here's a thread link with some pictures.
It's pretty easy to do.

I think the older bikes with the wider tire looked better with the bumper , it looks funny on the 09's and newer.

Yes you can take the rubber bumper off. Some say you have to take the front wheel off, but I didn't. I reached through with a long blade screwdriver and bent the tabs back that are locking the bolt heads on each side of the forks. Then under the center in front theres a bracket underneath. When you remove the bumper, it looks like the road king front fender. Just leaves the chrome strip around. If it's an 09 or later, you can remove the rear bumper without having to have a brace like the 08's and earlier.

Hey, that's great news guys. Thanks!

And Mick, that link is very helpful, thanks.

I can't get over how much better the Ultra and ElectraGlide Classics look(to me anyway) with the the cleaned up front fender and also getting rid of those chrome rails for the saddlebags makes a HUGE difference in the entire look of those bikes. Wow!

Lots of possibilities here.

Just be aware if you do take the rear bumper off you need a bracket to take its place.

I made the mistake of removing the rear bumper during some other work and couldn't figure out why my rear fender wouldn't line back up. Because without the bumper there isn't a bracket to align the fender. So you buy a street glide (or aftermarket ) rear bracket ($40ish)
