...photography with? I am an amateur digital photographer, but I'm ready to get a higher quality camera to pursue my photographic endeavorers with. I currently have a Cannon PowerShot that's about 4 years old and ready for retirement.

I love Canon's in general and have heard nothing but good reviews from friends with them. I am looking for a camera that can take high quality images but is fairly simple to use. Slight manual adjustments would be okay, just nothing TOO fancy. I want to be able to take nice macro images as well as short video clips.

I want it to be compact enough to carry with me in a case when I need to, and no more expensive then $350. Any suggestions or input would be appreciated!

I think you need to move up to the Canon Rebel XS, digital SLR. It is pretty easy to learn and you can also find tons of free tutorials online on how to use the settings of the camera.

It will however, run you around $500-600.
