Can you put stereo subs into a car?

Is it possible to take the subwoofer from a stereo setup and hook it up to my car audio?

Ive seen it before, I did it when I was like 16.... You need a power invertor/inverter to power the thing. It can be done, and sound halfway decent, but its not ideal.

iv done that when i was like 15 an u cud bt it wud sound like crap lol

The materials in most speakers that are designed for home use can't always stand up to extreme temperature, humidity etc changes that happens outside where your car is. Most likely it will sound good, but don't expect the subs to last very long.

Yeah I had 2 wharfedale stands that i didnt need in my car. Total of four 8 inch woofers.
Lasted for about 2 weeks then died.
