Can you put a Mercury Sable motor into a Ford Taurus SE?

I have a totaled Mercury Sable (1999) and my friend has a Ford Taurus SE (2000) with no motor. I was wondering if it was possible to put the Sable motor into the Taurus. I don't know much about the two vehicles, but this is just an idea I had. Is this possible?

YES! they are clones.like camaros and Firebirds.

no problem if it there both just regular 3 liters or both the 3liters with overhead cams if there the not the same you will need the wiring harness and computer out of the one with the engine you using

I would assume it would be possible simply because other than the name these two car's are the same mechanically.
