Can you put 205/55/R16 tires on a Toyota Avalon that has 205/65/R16 tires on it now?

You can, but your speedometer will be off by 6.1%. The new tire has a diameter of 24.9" and the old tire has a diameter of 26.5". The new tires will have to do more revolutions per mile than the old tires.
