Can you program a new ford key through the car ignition switch?

I have ordered a new key for my Ford Fiesta (2003) on ebay. I wanted to know if i can program the key myself through the ignition switch. In the manaul it says you can code upto a maximum of 8 keys.

Has anyone else done that before?
