Can you over ride a password on a iMac computer??

One of my friends gave it too me for money he owed me... he said there was no password on it and that i would have no problems.... now that i have it i relized that it needs a password to access it and he wont tell me what it is..... help!!!
 
i think your fucked....

maybe try reinstalling the system on it. but even that might not work becaue i think you need the password to initiate that...

if that doesnt work maybe take it into an apple store and see what they can do
