I've been searching for ages now and thought I'd tap the yahoo collective to try and track down a story.
Its part of a Sci-fi short story collection.
Its a bout a bloke that floats around in space with a protective symbiant (green) and every 200 years his orbit brings him into a space station.
Whilst on his 200 year orbit he collects music, or the interpretation of what he experiences as music.
When he gets to the space station he meets a woman that helps him get the music out of his memory. She has a jack in the back of her neck and the symbiant ends up interfacing with her jack and they have a amazing recording session where every thought word and action is expressed audio visually.
Any way I can't remember the name of the story, the author or collection.
