Can you make a living while in the military?

Car - yes
Bills - yes
It's just like any other job. You get paid & with that paycheck you pay bills & live.
Schooling - college yes. You would have to turn on your G.I bill & then they will pay it for you.
Buy your own house - most people in the military rent..... although some do buy... you move every couple years so you would just have to sell your house. you do get a no strings attached loan to help you pay for a house. then whenever you do move you either have to sell it or rent it out.

Sure it's like any job....you start out low man on the totem pole and work hard to move up in rank(or up the corporate ladder) and you make more money and live more comfortably....just like in the civilian world you don't live beyond your means

Woah your not going to be a millionaire. As an E-1 you make about jack shit. If your married you make a little more. As you rise up the ranks yeah maybe, but I don't usually see people buying cars until at least E-3/E-4. Unless they are stupid and buy it at E-1, which you usually see those guys having a nice talk with the First Sergeant (can't pay off the bills).

Yes you can after a certain point.

Obviously, you won't be able to support a family of 5 with the payment of an E-1. you gotta get promoted

E-3 is when you'd start being able to maintain a car with ease on your paycheck. But by then you would be more than a year in the military.

My best suggestion is to first go to college, heck even community college. Then transfer from community college into a University with ROTC (Reserve officer Training Corps). After ROTC, you would be an O-1. Officer pay = comfortable support AND better living conditions in the military .

Yes. I know a few soldiers with families that own homes off the bases they're stationed at. And the G.I. Bill allows soldiers to go to school for free.
