What is the average income for a Harley Davidson salesman? I am assuming that they work on commission. Are people buying motorcycles in this economy?

Good question, The mechs make around 30k a year, which ain't enough, and allot of dealers pay commission only, so during the winter they loose these guys and have a whole new staff in the following year (Summer). What I would say is if you were laid off and it was summer, It would be a OK short term job.

doubt it yuppies arent buying bikes any more companies like TITAN are going under. bikes that were 30,000 dollars a few years ago are going for 12,000 now.

How much you make and how the commission structure works would depend on the dealer. The dealerships are individually owned, they aren't owned by Harley Davidson themselves.

Typically the winter is REALLY bad for selling motorcycles.

In my opinion, the market fell off for HD about 4 years ago. The market is saturated with low mileage used bikes, why would anyone buy a new one? The dealerships around my area used to get $3K-$5K over MSRP on the new bikes. Now they asking MSRP and I've known people who got bikes at under MSRP - that tells me they are starving. The dealers themselves are also offering incentives for customer loyalty, which is unheard from an HD dealer.

Again, I think this depends on the dealership, but I've noticed that the dealer I frequent has a lot of turnover with sales reps.

I want to buy one but can't afford it. Maybe with another stimulus check I can put a down payment on one and finance the rest, but not make any payments and have it repossessed.
