Yes, but I find it easier and more comfortable to knit! If you do all the stitches as all knit or all purl, you will still have the same fabric: garter stitch!

Purl is just the reverse of knit. So if you want to do all purl, you will get a piece of fabric that is exactly the same as all knit. Just turn it inside out!
