Can you hitchhike in Europe? If so, how?

Bullshits.
In every country in Europe there is only one law about hitchhiking and its about doing it on highways - its forbidden (because its forbidden to walk on them, you know). The only way to use the highways to hitch a car is doing it on the gas-stations. The thing I recommend is hitching on secondary roads or whatever is the word for no-highways
Like everything else -the more to the west, the better The people don't have fear from the one on the road and often are kind. Sorry for my bad English, I learned it while hitching 
One advice from me - if you have prejudice or you are afraid, if you hate people because of their color or sexuality - don't go. If not - get up early, drink a coffee and go on the road with a big smile and with adventure spirit.
