Can you help me with my Verizon plan?

Ok so i got my phone in june of 2009. and my phone broke this month of march 2010. I have the insurance warranty thing. but i have not gone to get another phone because i want to know this. If i go to get another phone. Do i have to get the same phone i had or can i get any phone i want? Please help i really need as much answers or help i can get. Thank you in advance
