Can you help me solve a riddle?

So my roommate told me to solve a riddle. All he said was "The world is square" I think he asked why. So liek help me

everybody on the earth is equal
because all sides on a square is the same size and land makes those sides but the people are one that live on the land so thats why i say that but im not really sure
