I'm hoping you all can help me find the title and author to a book. I read maybe a year or two ago, but it may be a little older than that. Well, here goes ... A black woman in college meets a latino man, but she thinks he's way out of her league because he's very attractive. But he likes her, they begin to date, and eventually marry each other.
Fast-forward some years and the two have a beautiful son & home together. From the outside looking in, one would think they had the perfect life. However, she was unhappy and bored with her everyday routine. So, she decides to take a vacation from her family. When she returns, her husband is upset and lets her know. He yells at her and beats her. She locks in herself in the bathroom for several hours until she knows he's gone. She stays at her friends house for awhile, but then returns home.
Her husband tries to make amends and does whatever she asks of him, but she's still very skeptical aboout him and their marriage. His mother wants him to divorce her right away, but he won't even think of it. I'm not really sure what happens after that, but I know that her husband checks her into a mental hospital against her will. She's so angry and upset with him and his family, she calls her friend to bust her out.
Her friend has her own story in the book too. A guy she was seeing ends up being abusive towards her too. That's really all I remember about her story though.
I know it's a lot, but hopefully all this will help.
Ohhhh... & i do remember her husband saying, whether she was upset with him or not, she would always sleep in the nude lol
