I have a very weedy area, particularly Nettles, at the side of my house. I have put down a large plastic membrane to hopefully kill all the weeds. I want to plant M27 Apple trees on this area. If I forked the membrane with lots of holes for drainage and covered it in a layer of bark mulch would I be able to plant the trees through the membrane and leave it down so that the weeds die and the trees thrive ? Any thoughts ?
