My mother just got a white bird of paradise as a gift. 3 came in a plastic pot and they are about 3.5 feet tall and very healthy looking. On the tag, it refers to it as a house plant or patio plant and doesnt say anything about planting outdoors. I am wondering if I can plant it outdoors for her. I see birds of paradise outside all around town all the time. Is the a different versiion of the plant that wont get as big as some of the birds of paradise i see? I live in jacksonville(northeast florida) I figured it should grow outside as long as i cover it for hard freezes. Andy suggestions?
