i had a phone bill in 2004 i was 19 i moved house and just left the bill im worried that this can be classed as fraud because i didnt pay it and it would seem i had no intent to pay it cause i moved house and didnt leave a forwarding address also how would a tracing agent trace me to my new address
* i know what i did was wrong so no nasty comments

I doubt that they would send you to jail for it but the will have almost double as they will have added outstanding overdue fees to it. They can track you down by getting your details from other companies and may take you to court to recover the debt. They can not make you pay it all at once, but they can take a monthly or fortnightly payment from you bank account until the debt is recovered, but as I said they must get this authorised by you or through court first. They may also prevent and/or stop you from getting a phone in your name or may have blacklisted you from their company meaning you can never sign up with them again. Also the company may have given you a bad credit rating which can prevent you from getting credit cards, loans or goods hire. The best thing you can do is to call them and get it sorted out as fast as possible. All the best I hope this has helped.

You mean debtor's prison? Not anymore.

Now - they can sue you. And it can affect your credit report.

Doesn't matter if they can't find you - you'll turn up eventually. Your credit report will be looked at when you try to: get a credit card, rent an apartment, secure a bank loan.

You may skate for awhile...but eventually it will bite you in the rear.
