can you get insurance on a spanish reg car to drive to poland?

Hi friend just bought a car in the uk, the car is a left hand drive, has spanish number plates, but is all up to date with english mot. He needs to insure the car, as he will be driving it to poland, will he be able to insure it in the uk?
