My friend and I attend the same university and receive a pell grant and stafford loan. The school sent a check out for the remainder of the grant and another check for the full loan, which we will have to send a check back to them for the next set of classes coming up. She does not like the school that we are attending and doesn't want to go now, I am not really happy with the school either, however, I am planning on transferring in the spring. Now she is saying that she is going to drop the classes and keep the check and not send it back to the lender or the school. Can she get in trouble for this or will she just have to start paying the loan immediately instead of 6 mos after grad?
Can you get in trouble for keeping financial aid?
