Yes.
Stick to canon speedlites as they work right out the box and have many smart feature and custom functions you just don't get on third party guns.
The entry model is the 270EX (ignore the older marginally cheaper 220EX) which is very compact, reasonably power and has a bounce head.
The 430EX II is the next step up, with swivel and bounce and a few custom fucntions, can also be used as a slave in a wireless set up.
The 430 EX II is best value and the most appropriate for the majority of users.
The top end 580 EX II is the top of the range, weather sealed, fast recycling gun as used by pros. Can be used as a master in a wireless slave set up and is mighty powerful. Also mighty expensive.
I don't know what area you are in so it's hard to post prices. Here in the UK canon stuff costs about a third more than in the states, even after currency conversion.
I'm guessing that if you are asking this question you are fairly new to the canon system, perhaps even new to serious photography, I hope you enjoy your new hobby, and would re-iterate one thing: Buy a canon speedlite. Anything else really is a false economy.
