Can you get a no pay due if you are in the military, because of back child support?

My friend said he got a no pay due because DFAS finally caught up on his court ordered child support. I thought only 50% of pay can be taken out for child support. This applies to back pay as well.
 
Yes, it's possible they can exceed 50% of your pay. And they will make certain that the spouse also receives any military pension whether you decide to remarry after ward to someone else. Therefore you only will get at most half of your pension. I pity the poor fool that remarries twice and finds the spouses have taken it all.
 
Tell him if he isn't caught up he can kiss his taxes good bye has well.

Federal law authorizes the pay of active, reserve, and retired members of the military and the pay of civilian employees of the Federal government to be garnished (or attached) for the payment of child and/or spousal support. The law is found at 42 U.S.C. 659, and the implementing regulation is found at 5 C.F.R. Part 581.
