Can you get a decent job with a liberal arts associate's degree?

I'm trying to decide whether to pursue a Master's in English right away or to first pursue an Associate's in finance or accounting.

My concern is that if I get a liberal arts Associate's degree (with the idea of then transferring to another university), I won't be able to get a job that pays well enough to finish my education.

What are your experiences/opinions? Will a liberal arts Associate's degree help me at all?

Why not get a technical degree? Tech jobs are in HIGH demand right now. Even if you have a Cisco/CompTIA certificate...or AS degree.
