I am at university in UK and i have to do 120 credits but could i do a different module and do 130 credits or is that not allowed?
I'm being forced to do a module on film and politics and it's worth 10 credits but i would much rather do screenwriting but it is 20 credits will i be allowed to switch even though it will push me over the limit
That can't be done in the same year, you would have to take that up in the next 'university year', but other ways of getting extra credits is participating in case studies, like be a laboratory rat for the psychology dept.
It depends when the module starts/started and if it's a core part of your course. If it is then it might not be possible to switch as this module lays the foundations for others..
That said when doing my undergrad degree (in the UK also) a friend of mine took an additional module for 10 credits just because it looked interesting to him. It put his credits for that year at 130 too, though the addtional credits were lost/dropped at the end of the year to 120. As this was in the second year and any extra credits achiced in a second year module could not be decuted from the credits required during the third year (if that makes sense to you).
Speak to your tutors most are nice enough if you explain your situation though if they are being difficult speak with the students union. Obviously the quicker you sort it the better as your have less to catch up on if you do switch.
