Can you cook Bolognese sauce in a slow cooker (crock pot)?

If so is it okay to just whack all the ingredients in together?

I only used the slow cooker once to make a stew.
I have minced beef, onions, garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes and mixed herbs. Can I just put the lot in together? Do I need to brown the meat first or what?
