can you camp on coastal paths?

me and a friend are going to walk the coast of cornwall in our study leave and summer holiday . we just felt the need to fell free after exams ect. and have very littel money and as we dont know how fast we will be walking and dont want to have to walk to campsite to campsite. we need some where were we can just set up and stay the night.
