Can you break a CricKet phone to use with Virgin Mobile service?

I have a Samsung SCH R450 for the carrier CricKet. However, I recently switched back to Virgin Mobile. I have the really old Red Arc and don't like using it anymore. I really miss my Messenger phone - can you break it or flash it over to Virgin Mobile? If you can, how, or where can I go to get it done?

To sum it up - I want to use my old CricKet phone with my new, Virgin Mobile Service.
