Can you be amazing at sprinting and distance running at a middle school level?

i am 13, 138 pounds, 6'2. i started running seriously in 7th grade track where i was a sprinter. i was pretty fast. now this year i am like way way better at distance and i think i am a little faster this year too. my 100 and 200 meter time was 13.2 and 29.8. my mile time last year was 7:37 and this year it is 6:25 but there was snow on the track and it was pretty deep so i could have gotten a better time.
my question: can you be great at distance and sprints in a middle school level and if so, how can you train like one. i heard when yo train in one, the other kind of running becomes suckish.


like for example, i did sweet on distance on monday, tuesday, wensday, and thursday, but when i did some lunges on thursday, i felt slower on friday where we did strides on the straight aways and jogging on the curves on the track for 2 miles.
i am a boy and i am asian if that counts for anything
