opinions? I want to include the most popular arguments for both sides.

1. Do you believe in global warming? Why?
2. Do you believe man is contributing to global warming? Why?
3. Do you believe the left and (most) scientists or GW believers are exaggerating global warming? If so, why? What's their agenda? OR do you believe the right is wrong to dismiss global warming or it being man made? If so, why? What's their agenda? What does either party have to gain?
(I know I'm generalizing with left and right, but there is a big party gap on this)

Thanks for any thoughtful answers. Honestly, I hate the global warming debate. I'm regretting choosing this topic for my final. I really don't have a strong opinion either way.

Because the evidence for it is overwhelming. Look at photos from 30 years ago. Look at ships now traveling through the former Arctic ice packs.

Whether it is man made or not is not the issue, it is to what EXTENT it is man-made.

But regardless of whether man made or not, it's happening and we need to protect ourselves economically, socially and in terms of infrastructure.

To deny it is even happening is INSANE! It's like a death-wish to turn your back on such evidence---a return to the mentality of the Dark Ages--a huge step backward for mankind.

1. Yes, I live in the Mid-West and went swiming yesterday (in November).
2. Absolutely; there are facts and scientists that say it's real.
3. Global warming is real, but yes, I am absolutely skeptical about our government and the way political agendas are being used by the name of "global warming". At the same time, I believe that people (typically Republicans) shouldn't be able to use a car, computer, tv, or a toaster since those are scientific things. You can't reject the notion of global warming; it's impossible because we are society of science. You can't accept some "science" and reject "science" that is inconvient for you. I think more Republicans are starting to come around, since it is mainly an issue of national security considering there will be no left or right party, when everyone is gone.

1) Global warming has been happening since the earth was formed.
2) No, I don't believe humans have that much of an impact on a climatic cycle that has been in place for millions of years. It will continue when humans have become extinct. The earth will, in approximately 15 billion years, cool down and cease to be habitable by any form of life.
3) Yes, there is no doubt in my mind that people who have a hard time dealing with everyday life throw themselves into an issue such as global warming. You can't solve a problem that you didn't create. Humans did NOT create global warming so it isn't up to us to"fix it".
As to what the alarmists hope to gain from this is one word: political power.

Try googling the name: Lord Christopher Monkton for excellent insight on the global warming debate. I think you'll enjoy what you find and I'm sure you'll get lots of material for your final paper.

Good luck.

in order to believe in global warming, one must believe:
1. that we understand the climate completely...
2.that we can predict the future climate accurately...
3.that we can control the weather...

this IS what they would have you believe...do you buy it???
