NO!!! you cannot hold a fish or stroke it you can break their bones and scare them and you might drop it. It is said you can train fish but don't know if that's true I don't think they would recognize you its also depends if they can see out of the fish bowl.

I wouldnt reccomend holding your pet fish, it will be a very traumatic experience for it, and it wont be able to breathe whilst out of water, maybe you could stroke it.
