My husband and I are best friends with a couple, Al and Meri. Al has a cousin, Jeni, who is married to Matt. We used to be friends with Jeni and Matt as well. However, Matt has BAD anger issues. He needs professional help. One night while a bunch of us went out to eat, Matt thought he heard me talking about Jeni, when in fact I said "Jana". Matt cursed me out and got in my face. He then walked out and my husband followed him out.... in which he proceeded to curse my husband and it was bad. We weren't married then, and he told my husband I was a "Fucking Bitch" and if he married me then to hell with him too. He also said phrases like "Fuch that Bitch I hate her" and much worse. Later on, Matt apologized to my husband, but not me. That was not the first time my husband has encountered one of Matt's anger episodes. My husband forgave him the first time.
Because Matt is so easily angered & unpredictable, we have decided it is best for us if we simply have nothing to do with neither Matt nor Jeni. That hasn't gone over well with them. They are constantly trying to "start stuff" with us. We have had to block their email addresses and cell phones. However they continually send someone to say something or can find ways to get in contact with us and use any situation and try to start something. We can't seem to escape them.
Al and Meri are getting married next year and we are both in the wedding. Jeni and Matt are not in the wedding, but will be at all festivities because they are family. We understand they are allowed to be there, but we just want them to not talk to us and leave us alone.
What do we do? I thought about a restraining order but I think those are only if you feel like you are in danger. We don't think we are in danger, we just want the harassment to stop. We just want to be left alone. Can you get some kind of court order for this? We live in South Carolina. Is it hard to get some kind of court order for this? We really have no clue what to do.
