Can we end the Sotomayor debate?

She is going to be appointed; everyone knows that. Conservatives should just give up.

That being said, liberals shouldn't be offended by people saying she is racist. Don't try for a second to act like if a white, male justice nominee, who you didn't like, had, eight years ago, said, "I would hope that a wise white male with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a latina woman who hasn't lived that life," you wouldn't be calling him racist. You know you would

Either way, the liberals have won on this one. Can I be the first to say that were done asking questions about her until she does something in the Supreme Court?
"In other words, you'd only be comfortable if all nine judges were white males.

Only then you'd believe they got there based on merit alone.

Point taken."

I don't know where you could possibly get this in my statement, but, if labeling everyone who disagrees with you as racist makes you feel better, go ahead.
Okay, dumdum, let me get this straight.

This, "I would hope that a wise white male with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a latina woman who hasn't lived that life," is a white man being racist, but, this, "I would hope that a wise latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life," is celebrating diversity.

In other words, you believe that anything that celebrates an ethnicity is positive, unless that ethnicity is white people, because they are evil.

The debate makes the public realize to choose their presidents wisely. In this case, Chicago style politics was used to pick someone for one of the most important positions in the Federal government.

I find it unbelievable that a President would put politics ahead of character and qualifications when selecting a Supreme Court justice.

And if Obama wanted to prove he wanted to fix an injustice then he should have picked a Native American. There was already a Hispanic on the Supreme Court many decades ago.

I'm a Lib.

I appreciate that she needs to go through this process.

I turned it off once I heard the Republican say she's in if she doesn't have a meltdown.

I'd love to end the topic but we aren't done until after she is confirmed.

LOL yes.

Sometimes people mis-speak. It happens.

Also, if Thompson, with his obvious sexual misconduct can get there, give me a break.

The world is changing, people have to get use to it.
The only thing that remains constant is change!!!

Ah, that's the defeatist attitude that works so well for our country...

"Personal experiences affect the facts that judges choose to see."
So...we bring in personal bias into deciding on law...just what our country needs...

It's not the same thing. One is saying having diversity in a diverse nation (with diverse people being judged) is better than no diversity, and the other is saying one race is superior to the other.

Actually, if Senate doesn't do their job in asking the hard questions despite the fact that she will be appointed--they will bear the same burden. So, the debate is the debate. Yes, she will be appointed. It just seems most of us will never agree on whether it is a good appointment or not. I agree to disagree.

we (conservatives) can't stop her from being appointed!! That's not even what we are trying to do. We are trying to show LIMBO liberals how screwed up there party really is...we know the hunchback of princeton is a shoo in.
