Can we discuss positive effects of cortisol vs negative effects?

Cortisol. A stress hormone which in times of stress can burn muscle and fat to produce quick energy. Cortisol is essential for weight loss in that during hard exercise with minimal break periods you can harness its function to burn fat. Even though it also burns muscle too, that can be reversed with a heavy meal directly after workout or a protein shake.

On the other hand. Being in a constant state of stress, such as during the day, can result in large amounts of cortisol in the body which could lead to weight gain. thoughts?
